Steps

1
Done

For the Chickpea Burger Patties:

2
Done

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and fresh cilantro. Pulse until well blended, but not completely smooth – you want some texture.

3
Done

Transfer the chickpea mixture to a mixing bowl and stir in the chickpea flour. Mix until the mixture holds together.

4
Done

Form the mixture into burger patties of your desired size and thickness. This recipe makes approximately 4-6 patties, depending on the size.

5
Done

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease with oil or cooking spray. Grill or cook the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are heated through and have a nice golden brown crust.

6
Done

For the Cilantro Chutney:

7
Done

In a blender or food processor, combine fresh cilantro leaves, fresh mint leaves, green chilies, garlic clove, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Blend until you have a smooth chutney, adding a little water as needed to reach your desired consistency.

8
Done

For assembly, spread a generous amount of cilantro chutney on the bottom half of each burger bun. Add a lettuce leaf, a chickpea burger patty, sliced tomatoes, red onion rings, and sliced cucumber if desired.
