1 lime, juiced

* 2 cups filtered water
* 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
* 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
* 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
* 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
* 1 lime, juiced
* 1 small orange, peeled and sliced into thin rings (or use carrot sticks if you’re making it kid-friendly)
* Ice cubes (to serve)

Instructions:

1. Combine the first five ingredients in a large pitcher. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and turmeric.
2. Add the ice cubes and stir again.
3. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into glasses. Discard the solids.
4. Squeeze the juice from half a lime directly into each serving.
5. Garnish with a slice of orange and a sprig of mint (if using).

Note: This drink can be prepared up to one day ahead. Store in the refrigerator. Shake well before serving if stored overnight.
