Ingredients
-
1 cup teff flour
-
2 1/2 cups water
-
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
-
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
-
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
-
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1/4 cup pure maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
-
1 Fresh berries or sliced banana (for topping, optional)
Directions
In a saucepan, combine the teff flour and water. Whisk together to create a smooth mixture.
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly.
Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low, add the ground cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Stir well.
Simmer the porridge, stirring frequently, for about 10-15 minutes or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the pure maple syrup (adjust sweetness to your liking).
Serve your Vegan Ethiopian Teff Porridge hot, garnished with fresh berries or sliced banana if desired.
