Ingredients
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/2 cup warm water
-
2 teaspoons sesame oil
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
2 cups thinly sliced scallions (green onions)
-
1 Cooking oil for pan-frying
Directions
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of cooking oil.
Place one coiled pancake into the skillet and press it gently with a spatula to flatten it slightly.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Repeat the cooking process for the remaining pancakes, adding more oil to the skillet as needed.
Once cooked, remove the pancakes from the skillet and drain any excess oil on a paper towel.
Serve the vegan Chinese scallion pancakes hot, either plain or with your favorite dipping sauce, such as soy sauce or chili sauce.
These scallion pancakes are best enjoyed fresh and hot. You can customize the dipping sauce to your taste, adding soy sauce, vinegar, and chili sauce for an extra kick.
Steps
1
Done
|
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water while stirring until a dough forms. |
2
Done
|
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes. |
3
Done
|
After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small ball. |
4
Done
|
Take one dough ball and roll it out into a thin circle on a floured surface. The thinner, the better, but make sure it doesn't tear. |
5
Done
|
Brush the rolled-out dough with a thin layer of sesame oil, then sprinkle a generous amount of sliced scallions evenly over the surface. |
6
Done
|
Starting from one end, tightly roll up the dough into a long cylinder. |
7
Done
|
Coil the cylinder into a spiral shape, tucking the end underneath. |
8
Done
|
Repeat steps 4-7 for the remaining dough balls. |
